UK Statutory Requirements

1. The au pair must have his/her own bedroom.
2. UK Home Office regulations stipulate that he/she should be expected to work for 25 hours per week and babysit for two evenings per week. For this, he/she should receive a minimum of £55 per week plus food and board.
3. Should you require him/her to take on extra duties or extra hours, you must discuss this with him/her and offer extra money or agree some form of compensation. If you are not sure how much you should pay for what you require from her, please contact Carole at the main office or your GB representative.
4. She should have some weekends completely free so that he/she can arrange to go away to visit friends if he/she wishes.

Please note that these guidelines are according to UK Home Office regulations. As in all relationships, there will need to be a certain amount of give and take. The most important point is that the girl is made to feel really part of your family and is not exploited or used as cheap labour.
